Best Beer Cultures in the World
Beer culture is very subjective and a difficult thing to rank. But, like pornography, you know it when you see it. Or in this case, experience it. I focused on a few things including; how ingrained beer is in the culture, the rise in craft breweries and availability of good beer, and the places beers are enjoyed.
It’s my list. Feel free to disagree.
5. Japan
Japan is an unlikely addition to this list. I’m including it partly because I wanted to keep this list less euro centric, but also because beer has really become a big thing in Japan overtaking sake as the drink of choice. Their beer culture is just very, very different from those of us in the west. Izakayas, Karoake bars. Space is sometimes an issue, but beer gardens are popping up on rooftops in Hiroshima.
4. Ireland
You can’t think of an Ireland without thinking of an Irish pub. There’s an Irish pub in just about every city in the world. And there’s a shitload more in Ireland, but they just call them pubs there. England has pubs, too, but the Irish are just more fun to drink with.
3. Belgium
They got weird with beer before getting weird with beer was cool.
2. United States
